2017 Red Carpet Event on Oscars Night Boosts Fight Against Arthritis
Arthritis is the leading cause of disability and costs $128 billion annually. There are more than 50 million Americans living with arthritis including 300,000 children. At the 23rd annual GlitzGlamGive Gala, guests enjoyed glitz in their midst at the Arizona Biltmore and on the big screen as the Oscars were being aired. All was for the benefit of the Arthritis Foundation.
Beautif-Eye co-owner, Mercie Loftus, was honored along with her rheumatologist, Dr. Saima Chohan with Arizona Arthritis and Rheumatology Associates and 6-year-old Brianna Cooney, the 2017 youth honoree. Brianna Cooney’s parents are both first responders. Valerie Cooney is an engineer with Glendale Fire and John Cooney is a Phoenix firefighter.
Guests enjoyed the Academy Awards viewing party, a live and silent auction, mystery boxes, a red carpet reception, and a Roxanne’s Couture fashion show. The gala raises funds to support the Arthritis Foundation’s advocacy and access to medical care and treatments; scientific discovery and research to find better treatments and ultimately a cure for arthritis; help & support including education and resources; and juvenile arthritis.
